One killed after militants open firing at shrine

A person was killed when unknown armed persons opened firing near a mausoleum of Abdul Shakoor Malang Baba in Chamkani area of Peshawar on Tuesday. Police said that incident occurred inside the Mausoleum when the devotees were busy in prayer near the grave of Shakoor Malang Baba. The firing resulted in killing of one person who was resident of Karachi and was identified as Hamid Suleman. Soon after the incident, heavy contingent of police reached the site and started search operation. The militants after opening firing made their escape successfully. Police registered an FIR and started investigation. Firing and bomb blast incident near mausoleums in Peshawar are not uncommon in Peshawar as earlier several Mausoleums, including the tomb of Rahman Baba, prominent Pashto poet, were also targeted.

A major terrorism bid was foiled in Peshawar's Chamkani area Wednesday when the bomb disposal unit defused a home-made explosive device. Assistant Inspector General of Police and BDU in-charge Shafqat Malik said the bomb, which was fixed in a pressure cooker and weighed 10 kilograms, was placed in the jurisdiction of Chamkani police station.

2 containers dead chickens seized in Chamkani

The district administration of Peshawar on Friday seized two containers carrying dead chickens near Chamkani area of city, arrested two persons. According to local sources said that the containers were loaded with thousands of dead chickens reportedly smuggled from Punjab to supply different wedding halls in the different areas of Peshawar city.

 

3KG bomb defused in Mia Umar baba shrine

Yesterday police received information about the bomb and called Bomb Disposal Squad who successfully defused the bomb in Mia Umar Baba shrine in Chamkani. Unidentified militants planted 3KG explosive material in black shopper, the spokesman claimed that the militants have vivid communication with mobiles.
